A journey as a CBFM practitioner: Peter from Solomon Islands

Growing up in a small village just minutes from the sea, Peter Kenilorea learned early on that the rich marine life around him wasn’t something to take for granted. With rising populations and the lack of proper governance, these precious resources are under threat.

However, since his community adopted Community-Based Fisheries Management (CBFM), they’ve seen positive changes. Important species like trochus and clam shells have returned to their local waters. This shows that when a community comes together to manage its resources and plan for the future, there’s real hope.

Watch Peter’s testimony to see how CBFM is making a difference, and how communities can come together to secure a sustainable future for their fisheries.
