What are the Fish smart rules?

There is a number of effective management actions, for both communities and governments, to help ensure that fish get big enough to breed and restock the reef. We call them Fish smart rules. The idea is to help ensure the fishing grounds remain productive. Usually, more than one rule is needed. To address the problem of declines in catches, a particular community may decide, for instance, to protect breeding fish by using temporary closures and to enforce size limits on fish as well as other rules.
